Kari Bushman was born and raised in Utah County. The second of seven children, Bushman comes from a large, musical family. Her geekdom began as early as age 5, when she bought her first record album.
Bushman graduated in 1993 from Payson High School in Payson, Utah. She received her Associates Degree at BYU-Idaho, where she also served as the Director of the campus Dance Office. Bushman continued her broadcasting degree at BYU-Provo, and Weber State University. At the former she served as the resident DJ for the EFY program, and at the latter worked as both Music Director and Program Director for KWCR in Ogden, UT. From 1995 to 1997 Bushman served as a full-time missionary for the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Manitoba and Saskatchewan, Canada .
Bushman began her radio career at KXRK (X96) in Salt Lake City, and has also worked for KAEP (The Peak) in Spokane, Washington as well as KZON (The Zone) in Albequerque, New Mexico, and KENZ (The End) in Salt Lake City. Currently she is the Bushman half of The Smith and Bushman Morning Show on KSNN (Sunny) in beautiful St. George, UT.
Bushman is an avid fan of the work of Tori Amos. She has seen Tori Amos in concert over 30 times in 10 different cities, and collects Tori Amos music, books, paraphanalia, and art. She also enjoys live music, theater, reading, writing, Diet Coke, and spoiling her nieces and nephews who are the cutest beings on the planet.
